For those who have leapt from
the precipice of the big 5-0, 49 Things You Should Have
Learned by the Time You Turn Fifty is the humorous bungee
cord ride that will snap you back to the bumbling age of
discovery before you reached the half century mark.
Author Paul Kreider has
written 49 stories, some funny, some poignant, all with a poetic
and useful life lesson. Kreider employs a colorful cast of
characters comprised of all shapes and sizes, from a rhinoceros
to an Italian porcini mushroom hunter, giving them unique voices
of wisdom, sure to resonate with those of us who have hit our
mid-century stride.
The last chapter is a deftly
rendered summation of all the preceding lessons. Artful and
sensitive, the ending has the pleasant feel-good surprise of a
perfectly wrapped gift. Whether you read it in one big gulp or
appreciate it in little sips, 49 Things You Should Have
Learned by the Time You Turn Fifty is a book you’ll fondly
refer to time and time again.
About the Author
Paul Kreider is a prolific writer and an
accomplished winemaker. At times, the two go hand in hand as he
summons his ever-present muse. Mr. Kreider, a former
Vietnam-era Army Captain, has published two non-fiction books
and is currently writing his second playful expose on 69 things
one should have learned by age 70. He lives life to the
fullest, thirty minutes north of San Francisco, where he owns
and operates Ross Valley Winery, his biggest life lesson and one
that continues to teach and inspire him.
