After
the Storm: More Adventures of Napoleon and Marigold
by Peg
Davis
reintroduces the lovable Napoleon and Marigold, a rooster and
hen
who live
on the west Texas farm of Ralph and Myrna Davis.
Napoleon, a handsome rooster, and Marigold,
a
pretty
golden-colored hen, have been longtime residents of the Davis’
farm. But the two embark on an adventure after a big storm
brings new friends!
Once the storm passes and
things settle down, Ralph goes out to survey the damage. As he
looks around the farm, he discovers an old milk can that has
blown from the barn. Inside are a couple of newcomers: Rufus, a
black rooster, and Ruby, a black and white spotted hen. They
seem to have ridden out the storm inside the milk can and now
need a new home.
But
where did they come from, and will they stay and make the Davis
farm their new home?
Davis’ second book about the adventures on the Davis farm
introduce endearing and colorful characters while focusing on
the importance of welcoming new friends and going through the
inevitable changes of life’s ups and downs. As always, Davis’
writing finesse shines as she weaves a tale that children will
remember and adore time and time again.
