Ruth Freeman has virtually
everything she could wish for in life; everything that is except
passion. A woman of wide ranging artistic interests, two
intelligent teenage children and a high earning husband who in
her twenties was the love of her life. But within this safe
cocoon, she was bored. Her 40th birthday looms and Ruth wonders
what lies on the other side of this female watershed? Was it to
be more of the same; a marriage of convenience for both she and
husband Philip? Her spirit rebels against the thought and when
out of the blue an opportunity presents itself to become her own
woman again, albeit for a brief week away from her small,
provincial village, she grabs it. Planning her breakaway, she
feels energized by the knowledge that what is gradually
fermenting in her mind is exciting and unusual and will remain
her secret. Looking in the mirror Ruth is well aware that at 39
she still attracts men’s roving eye, but until now, in her close
knit community, she had never been tempted, nor thought of
exploring that admiration any further. Now she has that chance!
Had her husband been aware of his wife’s hopes and plans, he
would undoubtedly not have gone abroad on business the week of
her 40th birthday!
