It’s the early 90s and John
and Tammy are a young couple who’ve got it all—successful
careers and a wonderful life together.
The two decide to celebrate
one night after John receives a great job offer that puts him at
the top of his computer career. On their way downtown, a
thunderstorm springs up and lightening surrounds their car. A
high piercing noise nearly deafens them and a brilliant light
surrounds their car. The couple are knocked unconscious.
When they awaken, they find
themselves in Dallas, Texas in the turbulent 1960s. The two
began a race against time to stop Lee Harvey Oswald before he
kills the President. John is prepared to kill Oswald before he
delivers the fatal shot to Kennedy, but is there a second
gunman? Perhaps the reputed shooter behind the grassy knoll?
Armed with a video camera, they record evidence that shows that
Oswald did not act alone.
But the Feds and local
authorities don’t want to hear what they have to say or see the
evidence they have—they suspect John and Tammy have something to
do with the murder and the two are on the run before being
captured, arrested, and convicted.
Although evidence points to
them being involved, other clues show the impossibility of their
having anything to do with the crime. Will they be convicted of
a crime they couldn’t have possibly committed? Can they prove
their conspiracy theory to the authorities, and can they ever
return home again?
Blending sci-fi thrills and
historical narration, Patrick’s novel is like a freight train—a
nonstop ride with twists and turns that takes the reader from
the computer age of the 1990s to the turbulent 1960s. The
result is a wonderfully captivating and satisfying read.
