The Garage People live
happily in Tim and Edith’s garage, amongst the piles of
long-forgotten junk. They’re small, but there are a lot of them,
for Garage People like big families. They watch their human
neighbors, the House People, from secret places; they’d like to
be friends, but House People are nervous creatures and might
attack. Perhaps it’s because Garage People happen to be
rats—nice, fancy rats in many different colors, but rats all the
same. So the Garage People keep hidden, but are always ready to
help when they’re needed. There are lots of youngsters. While
Freda’s out on a date, Norah’s annoying the neighbors, Lucy’s
busy star-gazing, Alice is chewing books—and little Sally is up
for adventure. When Sally sets off on one of her romps, the
Garage People think she is missing and send out a search party.
Hitching a ride with a wanted criminal, they get caught up in
his arrest. Will the Garage People be able to fi nd Sally in
time? Will the House People ever realize the fancy rats have
been helping them? Can the two ever become friends? This
charming and exciting story of adventure and friendship is sure
to entice readers of all ages.
