Weaving psychological terror
with hair-raising thrills, murder and mystery, Sims tells the
story of two people plagued by painful pasts.
David Woodall is a successful
scientist and, from all appearances, has a wonderful and
productive life. But David is hiding what he considers to be a
shameful past from the outside world.
Although David’s successes
far surpass most, his endeavors are never satisfying. His
relentless mental demons overshadow his accomplishments.
Dr. Sharon Geraldo, known as
Geri to her friends, is a perfectionist and overachiever. The
child of a domineering and emotionally distant father, Geri’s
successes are never enough, as her need for her father’s
approval can never be satisfied.
The two scientists are led to
the same destination when the United Nations discover a tragedy
of unimaginable proportions. Their investigations uncover a
massive loss of life around a lake in Africa; a government
satellite links the incident to a radio signal off the coast of
Sumatra and a group of scientists and military personnel are
enlisted to find out what happened.
Geri leads the team on the
investigation and, once there, an unexplained phenomena happens
-- the team disappears. David Woodall is hired by a
questionable organization to find out what really
happened.
How were the inhabitants
murdered and what has happened to the investigation team? How
will these two scientist’s lives intersect and what will they
learn from each other?
Sims’ riveting novel is
peppered with candid personal terrors of the human condition
while setting up a highly suspenseful plot filled with surprise
twists and turns.
