Author Susan Hinson hopes her book will motivate others to seek help and quickly leave an abusive relationship. 

Her true story, It’s Only Because I Love You, began after a suggestion from her counselor that she write down her thoughts to better understand them and to help her heal after she left her abusive husband. 

Hinson suffered years of physical, mental and sexual abuse from an alcoholic. He relentlessly beat her up, punished and humiliated her, even through two pregnancies and after they divorced. She says she took it because, “When someone tells you often enough that you are no good and an unfit mother, you believe it.”  

But Hinson is a survivor. She survived several suicide attempts after living through rape, adultery and bullying from a husband who once wrecked their house in an alcoholic rage. 

About the Author

By sharing her story, Susan Hinson realized that she was not at fault for the abuse she suffered, and she can finally feel forgiveness for the “very, very sick man” she left. Hinson now lives with her family and new partner in North East Lincolnshire, England.
