A Heartwarming Coming-of-Age Story
Writer and
teacher Troy Garrett writes an inspiring coming-of-age story in
Kramer’s World.
Fourteen-year old
Max’s life couldn’t be any better—he has a beautiful girlfriend,
cool friends and is one of the most popular guys in his school.
Even though he
has to tolerate his mom’s constant nagging, Max’s day-to-day
life is great and, for the most part, uneventful.
But running late
for school one cool December morning, Max gambles and takes a
shortcut down an unknown street. Little does he know that the
neighborhood belongs to a vicious local gang—they confront Max
and he finds out what real violence is all about.
Just when Max thinks he may not get out alive, along comes a
fearless Good Samaritan. Scott Kramer, a temperamental and
domineering 14-year-old, takes on the gang and Max and Scott are
able to escape mostly unscathed.
Max gratefully
invites Scott into his circle of friends, but life is about to
change drastically for Max and his friends.
Is this meeting a
serendipitous one or will Max regret befriending Kramer?
Troy Garrett
writes a brilliantly insightful book that will appeal to young
readers. His characters are a cornucopia of races and
ethnicities, the plotline is sharp and the dialogue spot on—a
must read for families and their teens.
