Witnessing his master’s death and failing to prevent the king’s murder, Arton seeks revenge. He is young, naïve and vulnerable, but undeterred by his ineptitude he embarks upon an incredible quest with five strange bones, believing their influence of enchantment will service him.  

Fate has him befriend a deformed reprobate who pledges allegiance once his burden is miraculously lifted by magic and together they roam until enslavement sends them to the enemy’s land. However, escape proves easier than survival and Arton wanders aimlessly besieged with visions, ineffectual spiritual guidance, a strange elf and the burden of a small child.  

Upon his return to the kingdom, a reluctant woodman joins his quest but the realm is already under invasion from the enemy and on the brink of civil war. His strategy seems precise but destiny serves a ruthless blow and in the ultimate confrontation, Arton clutches despairingly to his last enduring hope – the legacy of the bones.

 

About the Author



David Greely was born in Kent, England and resides on the coast with his wife. Though possessing few academic accolades, he obtained City & Guilds qualification in his earlier career and recently received NVG level 3 in childcare. He remained working in the print and graphics industry at management level until five years ago but has since turned to caring for children.
