Seventeen-year-old Eilish is
a beautiful young girl who has lived a lifetime of hurt and
disappointment.
Abused by her father and
neglected by her mother, Eilish is very accustomed to heartache
and disappointment. To her, a future filled with the same is
inevitable so her imagination is her only outlet, taking her to
faraway places -- where a prince adores and shows her a life
filled with joy.
Life has a way of leading
people who dream to where they need to be but, oftentimes, it
comes about in a totally unexpected fashion.
Eilish’s path leads to a
tragic incident. Kidnapped by a group of men and driven across
country, she is forced to defend herself repeatedly. One of her
captors shows her kindness and the young woman finds herself
unexpectedly drawn to him. As the group runs from the police,
Eilish and the young man fall in love and Eilish is faced with a
life-changing decision -- defend her captor or return to her old
life?
Is one “abuse” less than
another? Will she ever find the life she so desperately
seeks.
With graceful finesse, Marie
brings the horror of abuse to a glaring light. Her prose is
fresh, her voice and sentiment wise, and her characters expertly
crafted. This tender, sensitive tale of a young woman facing
and overcoming unimaginable obstacles will touch your heart and
soul.
