Raven and Mink
By Yakiri

Meet the Author

Yakiri was raised in Israel, moved to Dallas and now lives in Ridgecrest, California. She wrote this book five years ago, but then suffered a massive stroke. After recovery, her aim was to publish this story. “Mink is quite honestly based on me, my own difficulties communicating with people, my own temper, my loves and wants, and her isolation with being different draws directly on my own isolation.” Yakiri has written three other books and wants to go back to school to study genetics.

This medieval fantasy introduces Raven, a young man who is the apprentice for a powerful wizard. Raven has very little talent for magic himself, but a strong will to do the right thing.

Raven has just lost his master, and then finds he has inherited a town, a career and a very odd blue woman named Mink, who is ostracized because she is different and has difficulty speaking. The two set off to find answers to Mink’s unusual heritage. Raven and Mink grow close and grow up together as they face challenges along the way.
