This is a
Native American story about a holy mountain that can bring
safety and peace to those who find it and bring back water from
its streams. In an attempt to protect their people against the
white invasion from the east, three Lakota warriors set out to
find the holy mountain, but encounter many dangers on their
journey before they can return with holy water from the
mountain. However, there is one other thing that they didn’t
expect…
About the Author
Dr Thomas William Nielsen is a researcher, lecturer and author on
positive psychology, values education and imaginative education.
Dr Nielsen has received numerous teaching awards, including the
2008 Australian Learning and Teaching Council Citation for
Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning. The Holy
Mountain is his first fictional book – a book he wrote in an
attempt to teach his class 3-4 students about objectivity and
respecting other’s opinions. The story is also inspired by his
many travels to First Nations and Native American communities
throughout North America.
