When Jasper Ulbrich Horton
was an 11-year-old fifth grader at Fr. John Therry Primary
School in Balmain, one of his class assignments was to create a
picture book for his kindergarten buddy. After the book was
shown to friends and family, everyone agreed that Jasper’s book
should be published. From the creative mind of a young,
up-and-coming author, get ready for a delightfully quirky story
about friendship, persistence, and overcoming obstacles!
Life isn’t much fun when
you’re a little owl getting teased and picked on by your older
siblings. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have a best friend to play
with all the time, anytime? Well, what if your best
friend was a mynah bird who relished the warm sunshine and you
were an owl who loved flying across the moonlit skies?
Read about an unlikely pair
of feathered friends trying their best to come up with wacky
ideas and solutions to give them more time to play with each
other – day or night!
About the Author

Jasper Ulbrich
Horton is a student at St. Mary’s Cathedral College in Sydney,
Australia. When creating this book, Jasper’s right arm was in a
full cast – due to a rollerblading accident – so he learned to
use his left hand to draw the illustrations. Although Jasper is
dyslexic, he is very imaginative and creative and is currently
working on the next installment of his Owl series with his
younger sister. The Little Owl is Jasper’s first
published book.
