Puerto Vallarta is home to a gay party culture like no other! With an unimaginably decadent underbelly, it is a city and culture that has one foot in the past and one in the present. Diva is a popular drag queen at one of Puerto Vallarta’s hottest clubs. Her best friend is Sergio, a cute little hothead with a semi-retired, sex and drug addicted American boyfriend named Paul. When their drug-fueled, sex-soaked lives intersect with the ambitions of the local drug lord and his savage underling, they are thrust into a dangerous adventure. Now Diva, Sergio, Paul and the small time drug dealer/prostitute they recently befriended have to confront their own addictions, betrayals and failings, as well as a sacred knife-wielding drug lord who practices the ancient, savage religion and rituals of the Aztecs. Will their little family perish in this perilous dance on the edge of a knife or will they find the strength in themselves and each other to overcome it all?

 

About the Author

Author Spencer Allen grew up in the Napa Valley and has spent much of his life in Northern California. He lived in Mexico for eight years and Sacrifice of the Golden Heart reflects the culture and people of Mexico, along with its various subcultures’ values and mores. Spencer is continually inspired by the love, support and belief of his late partner, with whom he shared many encouraging, energizing and passionate years in Mexico. A new novel, Young Innocents, the story of a gay teenage boy from rural Mexico, is in production. Spencer currently lives in the Sacramento Valley, which puts him close to many friends, his son, his mother and his 93-year-old grandmother.
