The NHS is a remarkable organisation to serve and it profoundly changed my life as had Camden before that. The following poem that is in "From Exile to Excision" is dedicated to it:

I’ve Never...

I work full time, I live alone, and for my sins I do atone.
Three affirmations, whenever I’m blue;
Piss off, fuck off, and what the hell’s it got to do with you.
I’ve only ever been mistreated, betrayed, or exploited.
Words of slang, songs of pain,
On my head have been anointed.
I’ve never been one to shirk the day or
Leave the place in total disarray.
But close and loyal worker, trusted, brave, and true,
Have never once written an I or O or U.
And so these words I sing so proud along with all the rest,
"For God, for Queen and country, and the mighty NHS."
