Why Choose Eloquent Books?
We
feel that the majority of companies promoting
themselves as "self-publishers" are not.
They are paid publishers
You pay them to do the production
and then
they sell your own book to you with a profit
for them and they let you sell it to others
with a profit for them.
This makes no sense to us
(we're all writers and authors, too).
How can this be a wise business investment?

Recent Praise: Hey, Guess what, Mark -A friend of
mine bought a copy for her son's birthday and took it to her local
library. The following is a direct quote from her email:
"Our librarian wanted to see it. I tell you, she looked
it up and down, flipping, turning and lovingly examining it from
every angle. Finally, she said, WOW, she did a really nice job.
How many other books has she done? I told her it was your first
and her jaw dropped. She said "There are so many minute
details that she got RIGHT! I don't say that just because! I've
seen tons of self-published crap." She wrote down the
publisher and is going to see about getting a copy for our
library too!!!!!!! EXCITING!" That is a tremendous
compliment to your hard work, Mark. I am so happy for you.
Just thought I would share this and make your day!
I must say that I often take time to admire the only copy
I have left. It really is so beautiful. |

Maya
Angelou once said, “There is no greater pain than a story untold.”
If you have a story to tell and you want assurance it will be
made available to the reading public, self-publishing is the best
course of action.
Many
authors are rejecting the traditional patterns of publishing in
which they receive such a small share of profits from the sale
of their work.
Then
there is the “old guard” who persist in waving the “You’re not
good enough” banner. They declare all writings that have not had
success with traditional publishing models are inferior and contain
concepts or stories that have no right to be published.
We
offer authors the same services, at the same costs, that we offer
professional publishers. We will advise you on how to publish
your book, we’ll provide the services you cannot provide for yourself
at a fair cost. We don’t require a contract giving us control
of your work and we don’t share in your profits. You pay the same
price for printing that we would pay whether it is POD (print
on demand) or traditional offset printing in quantity. We will
even manage your publishing efforts for you if you wish to hire
us to do so. |

Retail
outlets traditionally pay 45 percent of a publisher’s retail price.
Taking a $10 book as an example, the retailer would pay $4.50.
If the cost of production was $3 per book the gross profit to
the publisher is $1.50 – if the author receives 15% of sales revenue
his/her royalty would be 22.5 cents for each book sold. (You have
to sell a lot of books to make a living this way.) For the self-publisher
the royalty would be $1.50. If the self-publisher is selling directly
to the consumer by Internet or personal sales efforts the royalty/profit
is $7 per book sold.
So
the math is simple – Have
a publisher sell 1,000 copies of your book and receive $125 in
royalties.
Publish
the book with Eloquent Books and work with us to sell 1,000 copies
directly to the consumer and earn as much as $3,500.
This
is a very simple example and there are costs and work not reflected
in it but it shows the dramatic variance in the methods of publishing.
One
of the exciting things about the revolution in publishing is that
it offers an opportunity for books to be published on the merit
of their content and the business
acumen of the author. |
